While many in the Mid-Atlantic are still digging out from record snowfall that fell over the weekend, forecasters have issued winter storm watches and warnings as the next round of heavy snow is poised to hit the region late Tuesday and into Wednesday. As much as 20 inches of snow may fall in areas that saw over two feet just days ago.

Many crews have been working overtime to clear the snow while they are now faced with the task of preparing for the next storm system. After two major snowstorms already affecting the Mid-Atlantic this year, allotted budgets for snow removal in many major metropolitan areas have already been spent. Many worry about the timing of the next round of snow as the first two storms dropped the snow during the weekend as apposed to during the busy work week.

The storm is taking its toll in human lives as well. Two men in Maryland were found stranded in their car and had succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning. Near Washington, six people were rescued from a home after dangerous levels of carbon monoxide were detected.
