Just days after a record-breaking snow storm that was dubbed “Snowmegeddon” hit the Mid-Atlantic, a blizzard has effectively shut down the region. In what many are calling “Snowverkill”, heavy snow and high winds have only added insult to injury for those still attempting to dig themselves out from the first round of snow.
Transportation has been paralyzed from Philadelphia to New York City as highways are closed, airports are shut down, and mass transit systems stand idol. “Through rain, hail, or snow” doesn’t exactly stand for all extreme weather as far as the USPS is concerned as deliveries and collections in Washington D.C. were suspended on Wednesday.
This week’s wintry weather has shattered yearly snowfall totals in many areas that have stood for over 100 years. The National Guard may be needed as state officials wrestle with the impact of the two storms. There may be no rest for the weary as more snow is in the forecast for Monday.
