April 1st, 2008 – A rare tornado blasted through Solid Energy’s Stockton coalmine at Westport, New Zealand causing workers to run for cover. The twister struck about 5.10 pm local time, tearing the roof off a workshop, blowing-in windows and snapping a power pole. It tore about two-thirds of the 230 foot roof off the building, engulfing workers in a whirlwind of broken glass and dust. (Charlie Wilson)
