They say that timing is everything.
A strong thunderstorm was rumbling across Woodville, Maine, on Friday night. That is where Dale Gray, a 52-year-old truck driver lives.
Gray decided he would turn on his home’s electrical generator in his garage, during the storm. Meanwhile, a lightning bolt came down on the opposite side of his street, Energy Drive.
“(The surge) threw me across the room and it made me swear,” Gray told Bangordailynews.com.
Gray’s neighbor across the street fared worse. The lightning bolt hit his home as well, and singed the man’s left forearm.
Both men were treated an released at a nearby hospital and will be fine.
Gray says that trying to get the generator started during a storm was “dumb” and the next time he hears thunder, he will leave it alone.
