Busy Week for The Storm Report Chase Team

May 10, 2008 on 3:12 am | In Chase Summary | No Comments |

Brandon and I(Matt) headed out on three chases this week. On Monday we intercepted a severe thunderstorm in Woods Co, OK. Aside from dropping an estimated 7 inches of rain over the county, it also produced numerous microbursts and amazing lightning(see picture). The video that we posted on the web site was highlighted on The Weather Channel as well as KWCH Channel 12 out of Wichita, KS. On Tuesday we tracked a large complex of sever thunderstorms through central KS with high winds and large hail. Then on Thursday we intercepted a tornadic supercell in Hodgeman Co., KS that spawned a few funnels. As it moved into Edwards Co. high winds snapped numerous power poles north of Belpre and tennis ball sized hail did a number on our windshield. The video that we have posted for this day was featured on The Weather Channel and KWCH Channel 12 in Wichita. Our streaming video is still in the testing phase and hopefully in the next few weeks we will have it fully operational.
